Fall ‘07 Alumni Newsletter

October 1, 2007

Hello Brothers.  This is the very first semi-annual Deltasig Alumni Newsletter for Omicron Psi Chapter at Washington State University. We have been working hard this semester to ensure the stability and longevity of the Fraternity of which, you all are part. We also want to make sure we keep all of you involved, interested and informed about what we are doing in order to increase your involvement and also to strengthen our chapter.

As I hope all of you know, one way I have chosen to keep you informed is by setting up a Google Group.  If you are not already a member of this group I strongly encourage you to join.  This will be your resource for information on all chapter meeting minutes, pictures and an array of other resources implemented to connect alumni and collegiate members.  I intend for this group to be continued and to grow for years to come so it can become a greater and greater network as the years go on.

Omicron Psi has recently selected and extended bids to our Alpha pledge class.  This is a very exciting time for us because without fresh minds and energy our chapter will not succeed.  We believe we have chosen highly qualified individuals who will give back to us everything we give to them.  Let us not forget the first rule of accounting.  These recruits will begin their Fraternal education on Thursday October 4, 2007 with their official initiation to be held on the evening of November 12, 2007.  As I said, this is an exciting time as we prepare the Alpha Class for a lifetime of involvement and brotherhood in the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, while simultaneously molding them into the best business men and women they can be.

In addition, we have also been working hard to raise funds.  So far this semester we have had a car wash and secured a basketball autographed by the WSU men’s basketball team, a $100 gift certificate for a piercing or tattoo, a $50 gift certificate for The Bookie, a Cougar beanie and a Cougar Nalgene bottle, all for the purpose of one or more raffles in the coming weeks.  We are also working to secure two autographed footballs.  One will be autographed by the WSU Football team and the other by Reuben Mayes.  Finally, we have also ordered a large quantity of discount cards for Pizza Hut which will allow us to make a substantial amount of money if all can be sold.  Special thanks must go to our brother Jason Bruni for his hard work in the fundraising department.

Professionally we have already been visited by WaMu, have an upcoming visit from Northwestern Financial and have visited Café Moro which has recently opened a new location on Greek row in Adams Mall.  We are also coordinating with the College of Business and the Carson Center to put on events of our own to help advance not only ourselves as brothers, but also, any other business student who is interested in doing the same.  The College of Business has also asked us to start a business which will design and sell official Washington State University College of Business clothing.

While taking care of business in every aspect possible, and with the same intensity and devotion as the precedence set forth by our founding fathers and the Mu Beta Alpha colony, we are also working to become closer as brothers as well.  While other events have hampered the social timeline of OY chapter thus far, we have recently completed the ropes course at the Student Recreation Center and plan to have more brotherhood building activities in the coming weeks and months.

As you can see we have been hard at work continuing and expanding the wonderful organization all of you helped create.  We hope all of our alumni are doing well and encourage interaction between all of you and the collegiate chapter should any of you visit Pullman.  Best wishes to all of you from your brothers at Delta Sigma Pi – Omicron Psi.
