Another year has come and gone at WSU and Omicron Psi chapter. This Spring, 15 of our members successfully graduated from WSU and the College of Business. We look forward to hearing of their post-college successes and catching up at alumni events!

On March 27th Omicron Psi welcomed 15 new members to the chapter. The new members are full of enthusiasm and worked hard during their pledge period. We are excited to see what they accomplish as members of Delta Sigma Pi!

Pullman Fight Night: Round 3 A Success!

The Brothers of Omicron Psi organized their third annual charity boxing event, Pullman Fight Night. On Friday March 4th Pullman Fight Night showcased 10 amateur bouts for over 300 attendees. In order to provide the audience with a complete amateur boxing experience, the chapter rented out a local gym and undertook the daunting task of organizing a fully sanctioned USA Boxing event. Over three months of hard work, brothers lined up sponsors, food vendors, raffle items, a ring, officials, a doctor, and most importantly, fighters. The event was a success and raised $650 for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We would like to thank our event sponsor: The Man Shop, and the other local individuals/businesses who contributed: The Coug, Paradise Creek Brewery, Bad Pandas, Munchy’Z, WSU Alumni Association, The Bookie, La Casa Lopez, South Fork, Stubblefields, The Black Cypress, Zeppoz, Cafe Moro, and more!

Spokane Trip

The Omicron Psi chapter took our annual Spokane trip on November 13th. The day was packed with professional tours, networking, reunions with alumni, and even a social event thanks to the excellent planning of our Vice President of Professional Activities, Preston Nolan. The chapter toured a couple of local businesses including Northern Quest Resort and Casino, Spokane Arena, Barili Cellars Winery and Indaba Coffee. Indaba Coffee is a small business started up by DSP alumni Bobby Enslow. After graduating from Washington State University as a part of the Omicron Psi chapter, Brother Enslow started a café in downtown Spokane. The café focuses on good food, local artistry and giving back to the community. After a full day of professional activities brothers took a break to relax and socialize at a Spokane Chiefs game. We thank all of the professionals who took time out of their busy days to give us tours and everyone else that helped make this trip a success.

On November 7th Omicron Psi chapter welcomed 15 new members to our brotherhood! We are proud to announce that we not only surpassed our recruitment goal, but Eta class had a 100% retention rate of pledges who performed exceptionally well during their pledge period.

DSP Makes a Difference!

Members of Delta Sigma Pi woke up bright and early on October 23rd to plant trees along the river behind the bus barn. Make a Difference Day is a national community service event created by USA Weekend to get people involved in their communities. Delta Sigma Pi chapters all over the country participate each year with the Omicron Psi chapter being no exception. Dedicated members took 5 hours out of their Saturday morning for the activity and despite the weather and being tired they managed to have a great time giving back to the community and bonding.

Alumni Come for Homecoming Tailgate

Members of Omicron Psi welcomed alumni members back to Pullman for the homecoming football game versus Oregon on October 9th at our annual tailgate. At 10 a.m. the first DSP members started knocking on the door of Brother Aleksandr Stupina bringing food, drinks, and that famous Cougar spirit. With every great tailgate comes great food; as members started to roll in, Joseph MacKay started the BBQ and acted as designated grill master. With our food we also had excellent sweatshirts designed by our social chair which say Delta Sigma Pi in our Greek letters on the front and “The best in the West” on the back. After the tailgate the alumni and collegiate members headed over to Martin Stadium to watch WSU take on the Oregon Ducks. It was a close game, but in the end the Cougars failed to get the victory. The alumni who showed up said they had a great time and are excited for next year’s event. We can’t wait to see you all!

Merry Cellars Winery Tour

Touring Merry Cellars on October 6th was our first large professional event as a group. Patrick Merry, owner of Merry Cellars Winery, gave us a tour of his family owned winery.

Mr. Merry talked to us about the process it takes to let wine age and ferment to get the proper flavor and color. He stated that each barrel is coated with a special type of flavoring layer that is absorbed by the wine as it ferments in the barrel for 18 months. It is a very delicate formula and to contrive the right flavor. With the name Merry Cellars in at least 7 different states he still cannot produce enough cases to supply his consumers. Mr. Merry stated that the wine business is in high demand and will always be. A smart producer “just needs to figure out how to put his bottle at the front of the wine shelf and in front of the rest”.
